GIT through the eyes of an SVN user

I must admit that the first few times I used GIT I was utterly confused, but I can now say with condifence (please don't hurt me Linus) that GIT is not that different to SVN - at least in terms of what its trying to achieve. Oh yes, I am one of those GIT evangelists, but I've used SVN for much longer, and I can confidently say that GIT is better and it is worth you while moving over for these reasons:

* branching
* merging
